Bachelor in Optometry and Ophthalmic Techniques (BOOT) is a 3 years full-time undergraduate degree programme in Optometry and Ophthalmic. The programme aims to develop a multipurpose ophthalmic manpower in the country. The Optometry Ophthalmic Technologies is one of the many paramedical courses that are offered across colleges in India. In India, paramedical colleges offer the course as a 3-year long course, with the aim of producing qualified technicians who are able to assist specialists during prior to, during and post-surgery of a patient. The course pertains to learning the processing of treating various diseases and illnesses of the human eye.

Aspirants across India, through Bachelor in Ophthalmic Technologies course, will be able to learn about the technologies available in India along with the different processes and methodologies used to treat the wide range of eye disorders and diseases. Most of the courses offered by the colleges in India will offer the course as a semester-type course, with the provision of an Internship at the end of the course.

Being an undergraduate course, candidates will be required to have at least cleared class 12 board examination from a recognised board of education. While there are no specified entrance exams for B.Sc Ophthalmic Technology, each college offering the course may conduct their own set of entrance exams, in order to offer admissions to the aspirants.
